Based on the Javanese saying of “Urip Gur Mampir Ngombe”, this painting illustrates life’s transient and impermanence nature. Ubrux uses the metaphor of drinking glasses with slight variation in both position and color composition to depict the diversity in societal make-up based on socio-economic differences. Repetition in form of objects and the use of monochromatic color is intended to convey that despite slight irregularities, all of the glasses are binded together as a part of collective unity. This masterpiece serves as a contemplative invitation to look beyond the superficiality of life, given that we are all mere mortals with numbered days in this wondrous journey of ephemeral life.
