Raden Saleh's Mansion
Built in 1852, raden saleh’s uniquely styled home still exists today as one of the more extraordinary reminders of 19th century batavia and of the greatly talented man who inspired it.
In 1897, the mansion and its ground were acquired for the purpose of conversion into hospital by an association devoted to providing church-funded medical services. The acquistion of the estate was assisted by a donation from Queen Emma ,and on 12 january 1898 it was inaugurated as “Queen Emma Hospital”. A training centre for nurses was also established on the grounds.
In January 1998 the name changes to be “PGI Cikini Hospital“ Raden saleh’s former mansion is used as dormitory for nurses.
Now, this former Raden Saleh Mansion is a national cultural heritage through Mendikbud Decree on 25 April 2005. Previously, in 1995, the Government of DKI Jakarta first established as a Cultural Reserve with a classification of A.
